Arlene is an experienced and dynamic senior civil rights and EEO lawyer with over 30 years of establishing, developing standards, managing, enforcing and assessing EEO, civil rights and Diversity policy and practices in federal government. She is currently working as the Chief of Compliance and senior advisor to the Director of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Office of Marketplace Eligibility Appeals in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in Washington, DC.

As a capable bilingual speaker and communicator, she travels nationwide and overseas to provide training to employees and military personnel in other government agencies upon request. She has also been featured at local and national conferences with audiences of up to 800 subject matter experts.

Arlene lives in Alexandria, VA and has been a member of Crossroads Baptist Church since January 1994. Arlene met her husband, John Wesley Austin, at Crossroads Baptist Church (CBC). For over 24 years, John and Arlene have served in the capacity of Prison Ministry Leaders at the Alexandria Detention Center. Together with a cadre of volunteers they minister to the inmates, hold weekly services there and are actively involved in counseling and correspondence with inmates awaiting trial and/or sentencing.

As a member of the CBC choir, Arlene with her son, Daniel are responsible for the music coordination, and leading the 4 and 5 year old Wednesday AWANA classes.
